West - The Pacific Northwest will once again be active today as yet another in a series of disturbances hits the coast bringing with it heavy rain to the coasts along with heavy mountain snows to the windward slopes of the Cascades. An additional 1 to 2 inches of rain can be expected along and near the coasts of Washington and Oregon today while additional daytime and evening snowfall amounts above 3,500 feet will range from 6 inches to over a foot. Massive waves spawned from an intense storm churning in the Gulf of Alaska will continue to affect the coastline today from central California to Northwest Washington.

Northeast - High pressure will dominate the Northeast portion of the country through the day on Monday which will finally lead to a fairly nice weekend over a portion of the country that has been plagued by rainy weekends just about all autumn long.

Midwest - A frontal boundary will move across the northern half of the Midwest today. This front will have no moisture to work with so despite the frontal boundary things will remain dry and in most cases sunny. It will be mild through the weekend with highs ranging from the 50s across the Northern Plains to the 60s over the upper Midwest into the Ohio Valley to the 70s over the Missouri Valley.

South - High pressure will continue to dominate much of the south to start the weekend resulting in a rain free Saturday for everyone in the region except for those who live over far south Florida where a few showers may develop this afternoon. This area of high pressure will combine with lower pressures over the Gulf of Mexico to create a strong pressure gradient resulting in a brisk easterly flow from the eastern shores of Florida to the shores of Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. This strong onshore flow will cause higher than normal tides in these area along with dangerous rip currents for beach goers along the eastern Florida coast.
