Continental Becomes First Airline to Have Sales Team Earn Corporate Travel Expert Designation
All Continental Sales Managers Complete NBTA's Fundamentals Course

Houston, TX and Alexandria, VA - Continental Airlines and the National Business Travel Association (NBTA) announced today that Continental is the first airline to have its entire North America sales force earn the professional designation CTE (Corporate Travel Expert).

Over 100 of Continental's sales professionals will now carry the CTE designation after their names. To earn the designation, they completed NBTA's Fundamentals of Business Travel Management course and passed the CTE exam. The course, offered as a two-day seminar or in several online modules, covers topics such as cost containment, policy development, traveler safety and security, travel trends and program benchmarking. By passing the exam, the Continental sales team has demonstrated a fundamental understanding of the principles and practice of travel management.

Continental's Staff Vice President, North America Sales, Monisa Cline said, "I am proud that Continental is the first airline to have its front line sales force designated CTEs. This significant accomplishment reflects Continental's dedication to understanding the needs of its corporate clients, and to professional development for its sales professionals. It also sets Continental apart as having a sales team that is uniquely qualified to work with corporate travel managers."

NBTA President & CEO, Suzanne Fletcher, added, "At NBTA, we believe good partnerships between buyers and suppliers drive value for both parties, and the basis of a good partnership is mutual understanding. By having its full sales force dedicate time and energy to earning the CTE designation, Continental has demonstrated it shares this belief. I think both Continental and its corporate customers will benefit from this great accomplishment."

The Fundamentals of Business Travel Management course and CTE designation are offered as the first level in NBTA's three-tiered professional development program. Fundamentals/CTE is designed for those who are new to travel management and for travel suppliers who work with corporate clients.

NBTA offers three levels of unique professional development:

  • Fundamentals of Business Travel Management/CTE - the only introductory course and designation for corporate travel professionals
  • Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE) - the only certification course for corporate travel professionals; designed for professionals with at least two years of experience in the business travel field
  • Global Leadership Professional (GLP) - the only master's-level education for corporate travel professionals; offered in conjunction with The Wharton School of Business
