Continental Airlines Launches Non-Stop Service Between Houston and Aruba
HOUSTON, May 8, 1998 -- On Sunday, May 10, Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAI.A and CAI.B) will launch non-stop service between Houston and Aruba. This is the only scheduled non-stop service to Aruba from west of the Mississippi. The nearly five-hour flight will operate twice a week, on Sundays and Wednesdays, with a 104-seat Boeing 737-500 aircraft.
On Sundays, the flight will depart Houston at 8:30 a.m., arriving in Aruba at 2:15 p.m. The return flight leaves Aruba at 3:20 p.m. and arrives in Houston at 7 p.m.
On Wednesdays, the flight departs Houston at 2 p.m. and arrives in Aruba at 7:45 p.m. Following an overnight stay, the aircraft departs Aruba on Thursday at 7:15 a.m. and arrives in Houston at 10:55 a.m. This unique flight schedule gives travelers the flexibility of booking a four-night stay in the Caribbean with a departure either in the middle or the beginning of the week.
Continental Airlines is the second largest airline to Latin America and the Caribbean in number of destinations served. Other island destinations served by Continental are Nassau, Bahamas; Bermuda; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; St. Maarten, Netherland Antilles; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Antigua, West Indies.
