Continental Airlines Announces Non-Stop Service Between Houston and San Juan, Puerto Rico
HOUSTON, May 21, 1998 -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAI.B and CAI.A) today announced it will begin daily nonstop service year-round between Houston and San Juan, Puerto Rico, effective Dec. 15, and add a fourth flight between Newark and San Juan the same day. On Dec. 19, Continental will begin nonstop service between Cleveland and San Juan on Saturdays only.
From Houston and Newark, Continental will operate Boeing's Next Generation 737-700 and -800 aircraft respectively. A Boeing 737-500 will be used from Cleveland to San Juan.
"San Juan is a unique market -- a major business location with many pharmaceutical companies, a popular tourist destination, and strong cultural ties to many mainland residents," said Barry Simon, senior vice president - International for Continental Airlines.
With service to 20 countries and 36 cities in Latin America and the Caribbean, Continental is the second largest U.S. carrier to Latin America in number of destinations and passengers served.
