Continental Airlines Introduces New Benefits for Small and Midsize Businesses
HOUSTON, June 9, 1998 -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAI.B and CAI.A) has introduced a new Member Benefits kit from RewardOne, the Continental program that rewards both member-companies and their employees whenever qualifying travel occurs.
The new Member Benefits kit includes discounts on Continental's Presidents Club membership, special Internet rates from MCI, free membership in Avis' Preferred Renter program and special offers from Airborne Express.
The Member Benefits kit is sent to new member companies as part of a welcoming package to the RewardOne program. Launched in March, the RewardOne program was developed to reward small to midsize businesses based on accumulated points earned when their employees fly. RewardOne works hand-in-hand with Continental's acclaimed OnePass frequent flier program. Business travel is tracked by the employee's OnePass number, earning the employee valuable OnePass miles while the company earns RewardOne points for qualifying flight segments. For every $1,000 of qualifying revenue on Continental, a member company earns one point. Points can be redeemed for a variety of travel rewards, including upgrades, Presidents Club memberships and roundtrip travel certificates. Participating companies receive a statement from Continental each quarter detailing flown revenue and current point balance.
Continental has recently launched a variety of initiatives, including travel discount certificates, geared toward small and midsized companies. RewardOne is currently available in 30 U.S. cities and plans are in place to expand it to other markets throughout the year. Continental is the fifth largest airline in the U.S., offering more than 2,000 departures daily to 125 domestic and 67 international destinations. Operating major hubs in Newark, Houston, Cleveland and Guam, Continental is strategically positioned for TransContinental travel, and offers extensive service to Latin America and Europe via its Houston and Newark gateways.
