Continental Airlines' Business Class Recognized in Conde Nast Traveler and Entrepreneur Magazine
HOUSTON, June 30, 1998 -- Continental Airlines' (NYSE: CAI.A AND CAI.B) BusinessFirst service has been honored by two distinguished publications. Conde Nast Traveler has named BusinessFirst the Best Transpacific and Best Transatlantic Business Class among all U.S. airlines in its inaugural Business Travel Awards poll, and Entrepreneur magazine has awarded Continental Best Transatlantic Business Class in its 1998 Business Travel Awards.
In its June 1998 edition, Conde Nast Traveler asked respondents to rate airlines and hotel chains in the United States, Europe and Asia according to their business needs. The results were published in the magazine's stand- alone supplement, business extra '98. Entrepreneur magazine has chosen Continental's BusinessFirst service as the top transatlantic business class for the fifth year in a row in its 1998 Business Travel Awards published in the June edition.
"Continental's BusinessFirst product has earned this recognition because of the value it delivers to our customers with first class comfort at a business price fare," said Barry Simon, senior vice president-International. "The BusinessFirst seat is being further improved this year with adjustable 'winged' headrests and new cushions. Our product has long been noted for having the deep recline and 55-inch seat pitch and continues to set the standard for business class travel."
BusinessFirst received further recognition as the top business class among U.S. airlines in an April 1997 analysis by Smart Money magazine.
BusinessFirst features include extra wide electronic sleeper-seats, personal entertainment systems, gourmet menu selections created by Continental's Congress of Chefs and separate airport check-in counters.
Continental is the fifth largest airline in the U.S., offering more than 2,000 departures daily to 122 domestic and 70 international destinations. Operating major hubs in Newark, Houston, Cleveland and Guam, Continental is strategically positioned for TransContinental travel, and offers extensive service to Latin America and Europe via its Houston and Newark gateways.
