Continental Airlines Reports June Load Factor

HOUSTON, July 6, 1998 -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAI.B AND CAI.A) today reported a systemwide load factor of 74.9 percent in June. The domestic load factor of 75.3 percent was the second highest June load factor ever.

In June 1998, Continental flew 4.7 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) and 6.2 billion available seat miles (ASMs), resulting in a traffic increase of 11.9 percent and a capacity increase of 12.8 percent versus June 1997. International traffic was 1.6 billion RPMs, up 20.5 percent from June 1997. International capacity was 2.1 billion ASMs, up 22.3 percent from last year.

Continental's wholly owned Continental Express subsidiary reported that its June load factor was 63.0 percent, up 4.9 points from last year, based on 135.7 million RPMs and 215.4 million ASMs. Continental Express June traffic was up 31.8 percent and June capacity was up 21.7 percent from last year.
