Continental Airlines Inaugurates New Service to Glasgow, Scotland
HOUSTON, July 14, 1998 -- Continental Airlines will inaugurate new daily service to Glasgow, Scotland, on Wednesday, July 15.
The flight from New York/Newark provides excellent connecting service to Scotland from points throughout the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
The 757 service features Continental's award-winning BusinessFirst cabin on the 6 hour, 30 minute flight, which departs Newark International Airport at 6:45 p.m.
An inaugural event will be held at the departure gate prior to the first flight:
WHAT: Inaugural departure to Glasgow, Scotland, highlighted by a Scottish putting green for pre-flight practice; a Scottish band and bagpipers, and Highland dancers; tastings of Tennents cottish Lager; and an "Address to the Haggis," with a reading of the poetry of Robert Burns.
WHEN: Wednesday, July 15. Event commences at 4:30 p.m., with a ceremony at 5:30 p.m., prior to the actual departure at 6:45 p.m.
WHO: Participation by representatives from Continental, joined by Gerry McCrudden, Director of British Information Services.
WHERE: Gate 74, Terminal C, Newark International Airport.
With the addition of Scotland service, Continental now serves 13 points in Europe. Service from New York/Newark to Dublin and Shannon, Ireland, was begun in June.
