Continental Express Introduces Regional Jet Service to Indianapolis
CLEVELAND, October 29, 1998 -- Continental Express, the regional airline subsidiary of Continental Airlines, today announced that effective Nov. 1 the commuter will introduce Embraer ERJ-145 regional jet service on its route between Cleveland and Indianapolis.
"We are pleased that Continental Airlines is enhancing its service at Indianapolis with the introduction of the regional jets," commented David Roberts, Airport Director for BAA Indianapolis. "In addition to providing more capacity, these aircraft will improve customer service by connecting directly to the loading bridges. Passengers will no longer walk outside to board the planes, but will board from the terminal through a loading bridge." Roberts further commented, "We are proud to be a part of the Continental Airlines route system and look forward to continuing our successful business partnership in Indianapolis."
Continental Airlines and Continental Express offer seven daily departures from its Cleveland hub to Indianapolis using a combination of EMB-120 turboprops, Boeing 737 and DC-9 jets. On Nov. 1, Continental Express will upgrade three of the turboprops, which holds 30 passengers, with the new 50-seat regional jets, commonly referred to as the ExpressJet.
