Continental Airlines Builds Underdeveloped Hubs

HOUSTON, November 3, 1998 --Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAI.B and CAI.A) announced new routes to serve a mix of expanding business markets and leisure destinations from its underdeveloped hubs.

"These new flights are targeted at under-served markets where current demand exceeds available capacity," said Greg Brenneman, president and chief operating officer. "This measured growth is part of our strategy to build our underdeveloped hubs by adding routes that will be profitable from day one."

Already providing nonstop service to the most West Coast cities from New York, Continental is adding two new transcontinental routes for a total of eight. In May and June 1999 respectively, Continental will add two daily nonstops from New York/Newark to San Jose, Calif. and one daily nonstop from New York/Newark to Vancouver, B.C.:

New Transcontinental Service Frequency Effective Date
New York/Newark-San Jose, Calif. 2 Daily May 1, 1999
New York/Newark-Vancouver, B.C. 10:00 a.m. June 10, 1999

In addition to the new transcontinental service, Continental will inaugurate service on five other routes:

Cleveland-Montreal, Quebec 2 Daily (regional jet) March 1, 1999

In addition to the routes announced above, Continental starts service to Tokyo from New York/Newark on Nov. 30 and from Houston on Jan. 31, 1999. Other seasonal flights are being added in December to Florida from New York/Newark and Cleveland, and to Colorado ski resorts from each hub.
