Continental and Gulfstream International Airlines Expand Codeshare Agreement to Caribbean

HOUSTON, July 14, 1999 -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A) and Gulfstream International Airlines, Inc., will expand their codeshare agreement to include 378 new weekly departures to four Caribbean destinations from San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Nov. 1, 1999.

Gulfstream plans to expand its service between San Juan, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Maarten and St. Kitts in the Virgin Islands beginning Nov. 1, 1999. Additionally, Gulfstream also plans to initiate intra-island flights between St. Thomas and St. Croix. Continental will place its code on these flights pending foreign government approval.

For the new flights, six Beechcraft jet-prop aircraft will be based in Gulfstream's new hub city, San Juan.

Continental services San Juan with four daily nonstop flights from Newark International Airport, one daily nonstop flight from Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, and one Saturday nonstop flight from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. In December 1999, Continental will initiate one daily nonstop flight to San Juan from Cleveland, Ohio.

Key benefits of the codeshare agreement include connections to every region in the U.S. and 36 cities in Latin America and the Caribbean, one-stop ticketing, baggage transfers, and mileage accrual on Continental's OnePass Frequent Flyer program.

Gulfstream International Airlines currently operates more than 230 daily flights throughout Florida and the Bahamas carrying more than one million passengers per year.

Continental and Gulfstream initiated codesharing in April 1997 on flights connecting to Florida and the Bahamas. Gulfstream serves as a Continental Connection regional airline.
