Continental Express Announces New Service from Myrtle Beach and Columbia, South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C., October 28, 1999 -- Continental Express, the regional airline subsidiary of Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A), today announced new service from Myrtle Beach, S.C. to its hub in Cleveland and from Columbia, S.C. to its hub in Houston, effective Feb. 10, 2000, and April 2, 2000, respectively.

With this new service, South Carolina will now be served from each of Continental’s hubs in Houston, Cleveland and Newark. The addition of these flights increases service from South Carolina by 25 percent.

Using the new 37-passenger Embraer ERJ-135, Continental Express will offer one daily flight from Myrtle Beach to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The flight from Myrtle Beach will depart at 4:50 p.m. and arrive in Cleveland at 6:35 p.m. The flight from Cleveland will depart at 2:35 p.m. and arrive in Myrtle Beach at 4:15 p.m. Continental Express already flies between Myrtle Beach and Newark with one daily flight.

Continental Express will offer service from Columbia to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston with two daily flights using the 50-passenger Embraer ERJ-145, known as ExpressJet. The flights from Columbia will depart at 6:40 a.m. and 5:20 p.m. with arrivals in Houston at 8 a.m. and 6:40 p.m. Flights from Houston will depart at 1:30 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. and arrive in Columbia at 4:45 p.m. and 10:35 p.m.

Continental Express also will offer weekend service between Charleston and Cleveland in the spring of 2000.

These new flights from Myrtle Beach and Columbia will be available for sale next week.
