Continental Express Names James Ream President

HOUSTON, October 28, 1999 -- Continental Express today named James B. Ream president. Continental Express is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A).

"I’m excited about this great opportunity and look forward to working with my 3,500 co-workers at Continental Express," said Ream.

Most recently, Ream has served as senior vice president-Asia for Continental Airlines. In this role, Ream was responsible for Continental Airlines’ Pacific operation, including its successful launch of trans-Pacific service from New York and Houston to Tokyo, Japan.

From 1996-1998, Ream held the position of president and chief operating officer of Continental Micronesia at that subsidiary’s hub in Guam. In 1994, he joined Continental Airlines at its Houston headquarters as vice president - finance where he was responsible for the company’s accounting, financial planning and analysis.

"James’ depth of experience and leadership have made him a great asset in each of the positions he has held," said Chairman and CEO Gordon Bethune. "He’s the right person to lead Continental Express as it continues to profitably grow its network and transition to an all-jet fleet."

Prior to joining Continental, Ream held various positions within the finance department of American Airlines, including managing director-financial planning.

Ream received his master’s degree from Northwestern University. He resides in Houston with his wife and son.
