Continental Express Announces New Service Between Houston and Mazatlán, Mexico

HOUSTON, November 8, 1999 -- Continental Express, the regional airline subsidiary of Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A), today announced new nonstop service from its hub at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Mazatlán’s General Buelna Airport, effective Feb. 10, 2000, subject to government approval.

With the addition of Mazatlán, Continental and Continental Express will serve 17 destinations in Mexico, more than any other U.S. carrier.

Continental Express will operate the 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 regional jet, known as the ExpressJet, on the daily, nonstop flight. The flight departs Houston at 11:45 a.m., arriving in Mazatlán at 1:30 p.m. The return flight will depart from Mazatlán at 2 p.m., arriving in Houston at 5:50 p.m.

The Embraer ERJ-145 offers amenities such as jet-bridge loading, a fully equipped galley, spacious lavatory, leather-covered seats and carry-on luggage storage.

"Continental has had great success in other Mexican markets with the ExpressJet," said Pete Garcia, staff vice president of Sales and Marketing, Latin America. "This aircraft will allow us to grow in markets where demand may be less than for larger jet service."

Continental, the second largest carrier to Latin America and the Caribbean in number of passengers and destinations, offers more than 250 weekly flights to Mexico.

Continental Express serves more than six million customers annually. As a regional air carrier to Continental Airlines, Express offers more than 900 daily departures to more than 90 cities from its hubs in Cleveland, Houston and Newark. Continental Express offers advance seat assignments and OnePass frequent flyer miles, which can be redeemed anywhere in the world Continental and its partner airlines fly.
