Continental Airlines to Operate Second Large Jet on Corpus Christi-Houston Route
CORPUS CHRISTI, June 8, 2000 -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A) will add a second large jet between Corpus Christi and Houston during the peak summer season. Effective June 14 through Sept. 6, 2000, CO will operate a Boeing 737-500 aircraft on one daily flight between Corpus Christi and Houston. Continental operates an MD-80 aircraft year-round on the route.
The 737 aircraft, equipped with 10 first class and 94 economy seats, will accommodate the increased passenger loads resulting from vacation travel in the Texas Gulf Coast region.
"We always monitor the market and try to provide the appropriate aircraft for a given level of demand," said Buddy Anslinger, Continental’s managing director of Planning.
Flight 1460 will depart Corpus Christi International Airport at 9:10 a.m., arriving in Houston at 10:06 a.m. Flight 1876 will depart George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston at 7:42 a.m., arriving in Corpus Christi at 8:36 a.m.
Continental and Continental Express, its wholly owned subsidiary, offer 11 daily flights between the two cities.
