Continental Airlines Expands Houston Hub With Service to Two New Destinations
New non-stop service to Anchorage, Alaska and Oakland, Calif. is a first for Houston
HOUSTON, June 13, 2000 -- Starting tomorrow, June 14, Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A) will inaugurate two new routes from Houston to Anchorage, Alaska and Oakland, Calif. This marks the first time that Houston has had non-stop service to either Anchorage or Oakland.
Service to Oakland will be operated twice daily with a 104-seat Boeing 737-500. Flights will depart Bush Intercontinental Airport at 9:35 a.m. and 8:35 p.m., arriving in Oakland at 11:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Return flights will leave Oakland at 6:35 a.m. and 12:10 p.m., arriving in Houston at 12:29 p.m. and 6:09 p.m. In addition, Continental also serves San Francisco, San Jose and Sacramento non-stop from Houston.
Service to Anchorage will be operated seasonally with a 183-seat Boeing 757-200, consisting of 24 first class and 159 coach seats. Flying time is approximately 7 hours, the second longest domestic flight from Houston, behind Honolulu, which is approximately 8 hours. Departure time is 3:45 p.m., arriving in Anchorage at 7:45 p.m. The return flight leaves at 9 p.m., arriving in Houston at 6:41 a.m. the following day.
In addition, Continental will begin a third daily departure between Houston and Toronto, Canada tomorrow.
