Continental Airlines Inaugurates Non-Stop Service Between Austin and Cleveland

New Cleveland non-stop flight is a first for Austin; eliminates connections

AUSTIN, TEXAS, June 14, 2000 -- On Thursday, June 15, Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A) will inaugurate daily non-stop service between Austin and Cleveland, Ohio. This marks the first time Austin has had a non-stop flight to Cleveland, alleviating a connection en route.

Service will be operated with a 104-seat Boeing 737-500, consisting of 10 first class and 94 coach seats. Flying time is approximately 3 hours. The flight will depart Austin Bergstrom International Airport at 6:30 a.m. and arrive in Cleveland at 10:18 a.m. The return flight will leave Cleveland Hopkins International Airport at 7:35 p.m. and arrive in Austin at 9:30 p.m.

"We’re excited about this service, because it gives our customers more options to more destinations," said Frank Spillman, Continental’s South Central regional sales manager. "It expands service to the Northeast and Midwest and adds a direct connection to Washington, D.C."

From Cleveland, Continental offers 304 daily departures to 84 non-stop destinations. The additional non-stop service to Cleveland makes Continental the third largest carrier in Austin.

Continental Airlines is the fifth largest airline in the U.S., offering more than 2,200 departures daily to 136 domestic and 87 international destinations. Operating major hubs in Newark, Houston and Cleveland, Continental (www.continental.com) has extensive service throughout the Americas, and to Europe and Asia.
