Continental Airlines Reports Best Ever Load Factor in Company History
HOUSTON, July 5, 2000 -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A) today reported a systemwide load factor of 80.0 percent in June, the highest load factor in company history by 1.8 points and 4.0 points above last year’s June load factor.
In June 2000, Continental flew 5.7 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) and 7.2 billion available seat miles (ASMs), resulting in a traffic increase of 10.3 percent on a capacity increase of 4.9 percent versus June 1999. International traffic was 2.2 billion RPMs, up 15.9 percent from June 1999 and international capacity was 2.7 billion ASMs, up 11.1 percent from last year.
Continental Express, Continental’s wholly owned regional subsidiary, reported that its June 2000 load factor of 67.9 percent tied July 1999 as the highest load factor ever and was 1.5 points above June 1999. Continental Express flew 264.3 million RPMs and 389.1 million ASMs in June, resulting in a traffic increase of 42.1 percent and a capacity increase of 38.9 percent versus last year.
