Continental Airlines Reports October Load Factor
Houston, Nov. 1, 2000 -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A) today reported a systemwide load factor of 71.0 percent in October, compared to 73.2 percent in October 1999.
In October 2000, Continental flew 5.2 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) and 7.4 billion available seat miles (ASMs), resulting in essentially unchanged traffic and a capacity increase of 3.1 percent versus October 1999. Domestic traffic was 3.3 billion RPMs, up 0.3 percent from October 1999 and domestic capacity was 4.6 billion ASMs, up 2.4 percent from last year.
Continental Express, Continental’s wholly owned regional subsidiary, reported its second highest October load factor of 61.0 percent, compared to last October’s record of 64.7 percent. Continental Express flew 274.3 million RPMs and 449.6 million ASMs in October, resulting in a traffic increase of 30.7 percent and a capacity increase of 38.7 percent versus last year.
