Continental Express Announces Nonstop Service Between Madison, Wis. and LaGuardia

Continental Express to provide Madison's only nonstop service to New York City.

MADISON, Wis., Dec. 20, 2000 -- Continental Express, the regional airline subsidiary of Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A), today announced that it will begin twice daily service between Madison, Wis. and New York's LaGuardia, effective Jan. 31, 2001.

These new flights will mark the first time Madison has had nonstop service to the New York City area in 50 years.

"This links Madison and the nation's financial capital with nonstop service for the first time in decades," said Jim Ream, president of Continental Express. "We appreciate the support and encouragement we have received from both the community of Madison and U.S. Senator Herb Kohl."

Continental Express was able to begin service between Madison and LaGuardia after acquiring 20 AIR-21 slots in the LaGuardia slot lottery held on Dec. 4, 2000.

Using the new 37-passenger Embraer ERJ-135 regional jet, Continental Express will offer two daily flights between Madison and LaGuardia. Flights depart Madison at 10:40 a.m. and 5:25 p.m. and arrive LaGuardia at 1:59 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Return flights from LaGuardia depart at 8:25 a.m. and 2:55 p.m., arriving in Madison at 10:16 a.m. and 4:40 p.m.

Continental Express currently serves Madison twice daily from its Cleveland hub.
