Continental Airlines Named Best Managed U.S.-Based Global Carrier

HOUSTON, June 22, 2001 -- Continental Airlines, Inc. (NYSE: CAL) received the highest rating for outstanding management among U.S.-based global carriers, according to Aviation Week & Space Technology. For the second straight year, the publication gave Continental the highest rating of any major U.S. airline for "Asset Utilization."

"Continental’s high ranking in this study demonstrates that our continuing emphasis on superior customer service, along with our commitment to treat employees with dignity and respect, go hand-in-hand with quality management," said an airline spokesperson. For the third year in a row, Continental has been named one of the 100 Best Companies to Work for in America by FORTUNE magazine. Continental was named Air Transport World’s "Airline of the Year" for 2001, making it the only airline to receive that honor twice in five years; it was also ATW’s Airline of the Year in 1996.

Continental Airlines is the fifth largest airline in the U.S., offering more than 2,200 daily departures to 133 domestic and 92 international destinations. Operating hubs in Newark, Houston, Cleveland and Guam, Continental (www.continental.com) serves more international cities than any other U.S. carrier, including extensive service throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
