Continental Airlines Announces New York/Newark-Portland (Ore.)-Anchorage Service
HOUSTON, July 24, 2001 -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) today announced it will offer daily one-stop service between Newark International Airport and Anchorage, Alaska via Portland, Ore. beginning Sept. 6.
Continental will operate a 150-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the route, offering 18 seats in first class and 132 in coach. Continental is the only U.S. carrier to offer daily, same-plane roundtrip service between the New York area and Anchorage year-round.
"We have been pleased with our seasonal New York/Newark - Anchorage service this summer," said a Continental spokesperson. "As the peak vacation season comes to a close, this new service will maintain the link between the New York area and Alaska’s largest city, while giving travelers in Anchorage another choice to Portland, one of their top destinations."
Flight 784 will depart New York/Newark at 5:55 p.m. After a brief stopover, the flight will depart Portland at 10:15 p.m. and arrive in Anchorage at 12:55 a.m. Flight 485 departs Anchorage at 1:55 a.m. and, after a brief stopover, departs Portland at 7:30 a.m., arriving in New York/Newark at 3:37 p.m. All times are local.
Departure and arrival times in New York/Newark allow passengers convenient connections to dozens of cities on the U.S. east coast, in Europe and the Middle East.
