Continental Express To Modify Saltillo, Mexico Flight Schedules To Accommodate Business Travelers
HOUSTON, July 30, 2001 -- Continental Express, the regional air carrier for Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL), announced today new schedules for its daily, non-stop service between George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Saltillo, Mexico. The revised schedules, which will begin Sept. 6, are designed to accommodate business travelers and to maintain year-round reliability of service.
After the schedule change, the daily nonstop Continental Express flight will depart Houston at 9:25 a.m., arriving in Saltillo at 11:08 a.m. The return flight will depart Saltillo at 11:37 a.m., arriving in Houston at 1:19 p.m. Continental operates the 50-passenger Embraer ERJ -145 regional jet on the flight, which currently departs at night.
"Saltillo has become a business destination, especially for the U.S.-based automotive industry, and business travelers in particular appreciate reliable air travel," said Jim Ream, President, Continental Express. "This new flight schedule will enable us to maintain quality year-round service and improve reliability."
Although Saltillo enjoys a pleasant climate, the city is subject to heavy fog in the evenings from fall to early spring that occasionally has obligated Continental to divert its flights during those seasons.
Departure and arrival times at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston allow passengers convenient connections to dozens of cities throughout the U.S., Canada, Asia, Europe, and Latin America and the Caribbean.
The No. 2 U.S. airline to Latin America and the Caribbean, Continental Airlines serves 21 business and leisure destinations in Mexico, more than any other U.S. airline. Continental operates daily non-stop flights for more than 600 weekly departures to a total of 20 countries and 48 cities in Latin America and the Caribbean from its international gateways in Houston, Texas, and New York/Newark.
Continental Express serves more than 7.8 million customers annually. As a regional air carrier to Continental Airlines, Continental Express offers more than 1,000 daily departures to 110 cities from its hubs in Cleveland, Houston and New York.
