Continental Airlines Announces New Travel Agency Commission Structure
HOUSTON, Aug. 27, 2001 -- Effective immediately, Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) has changed its travel agent base commission structure. The change affects all tickets issued by travel agents in the United States and Canada for domestic travel on Continental Airlines and Continental Express.
Domestic U.S.:
The domestic base commission rate for travel agents will be five percent, with a new maximum payment of $20 for round-trip travel or $10 for one-way travel. The rate applies to all tickets issued by travel agents in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) for travel within the U.S. and between the U.S. and Canada.
Canada:
The base commission rate for travel agents in Canada will be five percent, with a new maximum payment of $28 (CAD) for round-trip travel or $14 (CAD) for one-way travel. The rate applies to all tickets purchased in Canada for travel between the U.S. and Canada, and within the U.S. All other aspects of Continental’s commission structure for U.S. and Canada travel agents, including policies regarding international and internet/online bookings, remain unchanged. Further information for travel agents will be available through their computer reservations system (CRS).
