Continental Airlines Offers Double Miles for its Frequent Flyers
Continental Cuts Fares For Fall Business Travel
HOUSTON, October 3, 2001 -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) is offering double miles for its OnePass frequent flyer members traveling on Continental between Oct. 2 and Nov. 15, 2001. In addition, these double miles will apply toward 2002 Elite status, which provides exclusive benefits in the OnePass program and special privileges when flying on Continental and its many OnePass airline partners.
This special double mile offer is good for all Continental Airlines, Continental Express and Continental code-share flights operated by other airlines (tickets must indicate a Continental flight number).
To register for this offer, OnePass members residing in the U.S. may visit onepass.continental.com or call 1.800.346.6090 and provide their OnePass account number, ZIP code and promotion code 50095.
Under the OnePass program, 2002 Elite status is based on the amount of paid flight miles (actual or minimum, whichever is greater) or flight segments/points earned between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2001. Requirements for Elite status are 75,000 flight miles or 90 segments/points for Platinum Elite, 50,000 flight miles or 60 segments/points for Gold Elite and 25,000 flight miles or 30 segments/points for Silver Elite.
New Business Fares
Continental also reduced fares for business travel on most U.S. routes for the remainder of the year.
The fares are suited to business travel because they have stay requirement of only one day and do not require a Saturday night stay. A round-trip purchase is required.
A 21-day advance purchase fare saves up to 50 percent off full coach fares. A 10-day advance purchase fare saves up to 25 percent off full coach fares. The actual savings vary by route.
For example, the new 21-day fare from Newark to Houston is $1011.50 (plus fees and taxes) round trip. The new 10-day fare on this route is $1533.50 (plus fees and taxes) round trip.
The new business travel fares apply to travel completed by Dec. 31, 2001.
Tickets can be purchased at continental.com, by calling Continental at 1.800.523.FARE or via a travel agent.
