Jain Meals are available for those customers who eat primarily foods from plant sources, as well as limit their dairy intake. A person who orders a Jain Meal refrains from eating any root vegetables such as carrots and potatoes. They also exclude most foods derived from animals including fish and eggs from their diet. The meal is prepared Asian style and is usually requested by a section of the Indian community that is lacto-vegetarian.
Examples of items included in a Jain meal:
- Milk
- Cheese
- Yogurt, no gelatin
- Grains
- Fruits
- Vegetables, excluding root vegetables and tubers
Examples of items not included in a Jain meal:
- Carrots
- Onions
- Garlic
- Ginger
- Potatoes
- Radishes
- Beef and beef products
- Poultry
- Fish and Seafood
- Eggs and their by-products
- Gelatin Additives
