FAQs on DIRECTV®

How do I use DIRECTV®?

Just swipe any major credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover Card and Diners Club/Carte Blanche) or debit card (MasterCard and Visa), and you will be instantly taken to the Channel Guide to select your program. DIRECTV® is available as soon as you board the aircraft and will continue until the door opens at the next gate.

How much does it cost?

You can purchase access to DIRECTV® in the main cabin for $6 (includes tax), which provides access to more than 75 channels of live television programming such as premium movies, sitcoms, drama and more. All DIRECTV® programming is complimentary in First Class.

Does the fee give me access to DIRECTV® for my entire trip?

There is a $6 charge with each flight segment you travel. Once the plane lands and the aircraft door opens, you will have to swipe your credit card and pay $6 again to access the system.

If my equipment doesn't work, am I able to request a refund?

You can request a refund by contacting Continental Customer Care at 800-WE-CARE2.

Do I need a special headset?

You can use your own single pin headset or use our complimentary headset provided onboard the aircraft. This new complimentary headset comes with an adaptor, so it can be used on any Continental aircraft — even the aircraft that require a dual-pin headset.

How many channels are available?

You can access more than 75 channels of DIRECTV® and 8 channels of previously recorded programming such as premium movies, sit-coms, dramas and more.

How do I turn my screen off if I am not interested?

Press the brightness minus button or "off" on the passenger remote control until the screen goes dark.

Can I watch live programming at any time?

Because the system is run from a satellite, you will not have access to live programming for flights that travel out of range (approximately 200 miles outside of the U.S. 48). At this time, you will have access to previously recorded programming.

If I purchase a movie, can I watch it at any time?

No. All movies start approximately 15 minutes after the door closes. Prior to the movie starting, movie trailers will be running.

Can I watch programming in Spanish?

All movies will have a Spanish verison available.
