The Golden Nugget recently completed a $170 million renovation and expansion of its features and amenities. This event will be held from Aug. 6 to 10, 2008.

The OnePass Mini Slot Tournament — take it for a spin.

The OnePass Mini Slot Tournament is perfect for the players or guests of our Texas Hold 'em Tournament who want to enjoy some friendly casino competition with a chance to win up to 70,000 bonus miles.

The slot tournament will take place on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be six 15-minute sessions, and each participant will play as many games as possible on one slot machine during each session. Total scores will be tallied at the end of the tournament to determine the winners.

Registration for the slot tournament will be open during the Texas Hold ’em tournament between Thursday, Aug. 7, and Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, in the Golden Nugget Grand Events Center.

Terms and Conditions

Players must be 21 years of age to participate and you must be a current OnePass member to participate.

World Series of Poker finalist, over the past five years, are not eligible to participate in this event. Hotel rate is based on one person participating in the tournament and one room with a maximum of two guests per room. A special rate of $640 is available for two members participating in the tournament who share one guest room. Airfare and ground transportation is not included in the special rates and is the responsibility of the player. Additional nights may be purchased for an additional fee. In order to receive the special rate, members must identify themselves are participating in the Continental Airlines OnePass 21st Birthday Celebration.

Rates cannot be changed at check-in or check-out for guests who failed to identify their affiliation at the time the reservation is made. All terms and conditions of OnePass apply, including the right for Continental to modify or terminate the OnePass program in accordance with the terms and conditions of OnePass. Additional terms and conditions may apply.

Golden Nugget Hotel Package Terms and Conditions

**Package price of $821 Single (CCP) / $640 Double (CCP) is based on a 4-night stay (August 6-10, 2008). Package price inclusive of tax and service charge for guest room and the Casino events the player is eligible to attend. No credit will be given for early departure. Package rate does not include airfare or ground transportation.

Single Complete Casino Package (CCP) will be applicable based on ONE person participating in the Casino Tournament. A maximum of two guests may stay in a guest room and attend all evening events without additional fees being applied. Price quoted is for a Standard Guest room. Additional fees apply for Premium guest rooms and Suites.

Double Complete Casino Package (DCCP) will be applicable per person based on TWO people participating in the Casino Tournament and sharing one guest room. A maximum of two guests may stay in a guest room without additional fees being applied. Additional fees apply for Premium guest rooms and Suites.

Early arrival and late departures, will be confirmed on a space and rate availability basis. Requests for specific room types will be noted at the time the reservation is made. However, special requests such as bed type, view, and/or smoking preferences are based upon availability at the time of check-in and cannot be guaranteed. Additional nights may be purchased at Best Available Rate. Not valid for groups or in conjunction with any other discount offer. Offer subject to limited availability and restrictions. Management reserves the right to change, modify or cancel this promotion at its discretion.

A $20.00 surcharge will apply per night, to each additional third and fourth person occupying the same room, regardless of age. Each occupied guestroom may have a maximum of four guests.

Golden Nugget will charge the full amount of the complete Event Package at the time the reservation is made. The deposit is non-refundable, non-transferable at time of making the reservation.

To comply with Federal statutes and regulations regarding prizes and awards, Continental will compute the value of the OnePass awards received by the winners of the tournament. Continental will remit, for the top 9 winners, a payment of U.S. withholding tax to the U.S. Treasury, based on the Supplemental Federal withholding rate of 25%. Continental does not represent that the foregoing payment will satisfy the top 9 winner's total Federal, State, or Local tax liability with respect to the value of the OnePass award. Neither does Continental represent that the value computed for purposes of the foregoing payment is binding on any Federal, State, or Local taxing authority. A Form W2-G will be issued to each winner reflecting the value of the award (including tax) and the amount of any withholding tax paid on behalf of the winner. Each winner must provide Continental a properly completed Form W-9 in order to receive the OnePass award.

Continental Airlines employees are not eligible to participate in the tournament.

Tournament FAQs

Do I have to purchase the hotel package to participate in the tournament?
Yes. In order to participate in the tournament you must purchase the 4 night package for $821 which includes entry into the tournament, dinner/reception on the first two nights for themselves and their guest and lunch for the player as long as they are still participating in the tournament. (For 2 members, both participating in the tournament and staying in the same room, the rate is $640 per person).
How much do I have to bet?
You must bet a minimum equal to the Big Blind.
How much can I bet?
This is a No-Limit Hold 'em, so you can bet as many chips as you have at any time you desire.
How much can I raise?
You must raise at least the equivalent to the most recent bet made; and you can raise as high as you desire.
Can I pick my seat?
Seats are drawn randomly at the time of registration.
If I am not sure how to bet or if it is my turn, what can I do?
The dealers are neutral and you may ask them any procedural questions you like; however they cannot provide advice on any playing decisions.
Will we have break times?
Yes, there will be scheduled breaks in the tournament.
If I need to leave the table will I be penalized?
No, you may miss as many hands as you like with no penalty; if it comes to be your turn in the small or big blind, then the dealer will take the appropriate number of chips from your stack to pay those blinds.
May my friends/family watch me play?
Yes, observers are allowed as long as there is no disruption to another player
After I fold my hand, can I change my mind and retrieve that hand before another player bets?
No, once a hand is folded it is no longer available to that player.
If I am not sure what I have as far as my hand what can I do?
Any hand face up on the table speaks for itself and will be read by the dealer; if you are not sure of your hand and all action is complete simply turn it face up.
Will there be a tax on the tournament awards?
Federal statutes and regulations require reporting of prizes and awards with fair market value greater than $600. Continental will compute the value for the OnePass awards received by the winners of the tournament and for the top 9 winners, remit payment of U.S. withholding tax to the U.S. Treasury based on the Supplemental Federal withholding rate of 25%.
If I win the tournament, will I need to pay taxes on the prize?
Continental will pay a U.S. withholding tax for the top 9 winners of the tournament. The value of the award is taxable as gambling winnings and each winner will be taxed based on his/her own income situation. Therefore, each winner would be required to pay any taxes over and above the withholding tax payment made by Continental.
Do I need to complete any tax forms?
Each winner must provide Continental a properly completed Form W-9 in order to receive the OnePass award. A Form W2-G will be issued to each winner reflecting the value of the award (including tax) and the amount of any withholding tax paid on behalf of the winner.

Tournament Rules

  1. Tournament director is to consider the best interest and fairness of the game when making all decisions.
  2. Players must be at the table when it is their turn to act or their hand will be considered dead and folded by the dealer.
  3. All cards will be turned face up once one or more players is all-in and all other action is complete.
  4. There is only one player per hand; solicitation of help is not permitted.
  5. There will be an English language only rule at the tables during the course of play.
  6. Players must keep their highest denomination of chips in plain view at all times.
  7. Players that expose their card(s) during the course of play may incur a penalty but will not have their HAND declared dead.
  8. If two or more players go broke during the same hand, the player who started the hand with the most chips will finish higher in the tournament than the other player(s) who also went broke during the hand.
  9. Golden Nugget casino management reserves the right to disqualify any tournament participant whose behavior is considered detrimental to the game. Foul and abusive language and other misconduct will not be tolerated.
  10. Tournament Directors decision are final.
