Weather Summary
As of 8:21 p.m. Central, Mon., Oct. 6, 2008
South - A cold front moving through the Plains will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms to the Southern Plains and into the Lower Mississippi Valley tonight and tomorrow. A few storms may become severe in portions of Oklahoma and Texas, with the main severe threats being large hail and damaging winds although a tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Locally heavy rain is also possible. Rain is also possible over Florida once again from the stalled out frontal boundary draped across the Peninsula. Some locally heavy rain cannot be ruled out again with any storms that develop.
Midwest - Heavy rain is also possible in the Northern and Central Plains and into the Missouri River Valley from the frontal boundary moving through the Plains. The rain and thunderstorm chances will move into the Mississippi Valley tonight into tomorrow.
West - While one storm system moves away from the West, another will begin to approach the Northwest later today. Winds will increase and showers will begin to creep into the Pacific Northwest Coast by this afternoon. By tonight, locally heavy rain is possible.
Northeast - An upper level trough will swing through the Northeast bringing a few showers to northern New York State and possibly into New England. The rain should be gone by tonight, with clearing skies overnight.
