Amtrak

America's National Railroad Passenger Corporation Amtrak (www.amtrak.com), serves 500 destinations across the United States. The company operates long-distance, transcontinental trains from coast to coast and border to border, as well as frequent service between business destinations along the Northeast Corridor. In 2000, Amtrak introduced Acela Express - a premium train service linking Boston, New York and Washington, with various stops in between, with trains that reach speeds up to 150 miles per hour.

Continental Airlines and Amtrak have teamed up to provide the ultimate in seamless travel. Through an air/rail codeshare, Amtrak will provide connecting service on Regional and Keystone trains from Philadelphia, PA; Wilmington, DE; Stamford, CT and New Haven, CT to Newark International Airport and then on to anywhere Continental Airlines flies.

Frequent Flyer Benefits

Continental OnePass members have two ways to earn miles on Amtrak:

  • OnePass members on codeshare segments (flight range 9401-9513) may earn Continental OnePass miles when they travel. Passengers will earn 250 miles, when traveling in Coach Class, or 325 miles when traveling in Business Class.
  • Guests traveling on Amtrak's Metroliner and Acela Express services between New York, NY and either Boston, MA or Washington, D.C. can earn Continental OnePass miles. Passengers will earn 500 miles when traveling in Business Class, or 750 miles when traveling in First Class.

Members of both frequent traveler programs will also be able to transfer miles and points between OnePass and Amtrak Guest Rewards.

The Acela trains, which offer high-speed service between Newark Airport and various destinations, provide quiet, quick and reliable service. Coach class passengers have power outlets at each seat and plenty of storage room for luggage, while Business class passengers have access to added amenities including conference tables and telephones.
