Continental revises Baggage Policy

Effective immediately military customers on official orders may check three bags up to 70 pounds and 115 linear inches each at no charge. Family members traveling with or without the military customer on orders may check three bags not exceeding 70 pounds and 62 linear inches each at no charge when traveling on official business.
GSA announces FY2009 City Pair contracts

Effective Oct. 1, 2008, The GSA will have 4,303 domestic and 1,999 International contracts implemented by twelve carriers for their contract period that expires on September 30, 2009.
Continental will file –DG fares as the contract carriers file YCA and –CA fares.
Continental to Expand Second Checked Bag Policy

Continental Airlines is implementing a $25 fee for customers checking a second bag when traveling on Economy fare tickets between Latin America (excluding Brazil) and the 50 U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. The fee will apply for tickets purchased on or after May 8, 2008, for travel commencing on or after May 19, 2008.
$25 Fee for Second Checked Bag

Continental Airlines is implementing a $25 fee for customers checking a second bag when traveling on certain Economy fare tickets. The fee will apply for tickets purchased on or after April 5, 2008 for travel commencing on or after May 5, 2008 within the 50 U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. Certain customers will be exempt from paying the new fee and will be allowed to check second bags free of charge (bags must meet weight and size restrictions). These customers include:
- OnePass Elite members
- SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus members
- Any customer traveling on a ticket purchased in Y class of service
- Continental Airlines Presidential Plus credit card holders
- Active military personnel traveling on orders
- Military invitational travelers on official U.S. orders
Customers traveling with the above exempt customers are also exempt as long as they are traveling in the same reservation. This exemption will not apply to group reservations including 10 or more customers.
All customers may continue to check one bag free of charge. Additionally, there is no charge for car seats, strollers and wheelchairs.

Military & Government Ticket Service Fee Change

Effective Dec. 1, 2007, all military and government reservations and tickets generated through Continental Reservations and Meeting Groups Works will charge a $15.00 non-refundable service fee.
Continental Reservations and Government Desk Reissue Fee
July 1, 2007
Effective July 1, 2007, any ticket that has been issued by an outside distribution office will be charged $15.00 for this service due to labor expenses.
Military Leisure Booking Tool

Military Leisure fares are for U.S. Military personnel and their eligible family members who are traveling on leave. Military personnel and eligible dependants must have a valid ID and must use personal credit cards for payment. Authorized federal government credit cards will not be accepted for payment of military leisure fares.
Open eTicket

Effective immediately you can issue an open return eTicket on Continental Airlines when using the following GDSs: Abacus, Amadeus, Axess, Galileo, Infini, Sabre, Topas and Worldspan. Since this functionality is now available, please do not issue paper tickets with open segments. A debit memo will be issued if you do.

Government Traveler Advisory

Be advised that if you book a reservation in advance on a government fare, this rate is not protected until the ticket is actually issued. Fare basis and fare buckets can and do change in the current airline environment. If you choose to book in advance and not ticket you can lose your reservation.
Baggage Policy Change

Effective September 1, 2006, Continental will decrease its maximum weight allowance from 100 lbs to 70 lbs per piece for checked baggage. This policy change will apply to all domestic and international travel on Continental and all its subsidiaries. Continental will no longer accept checked baggage weighing over 70 lbs. This includes military personnel traveling on official business.

Department of Defense Civilians Covered under Checked Baggage Exception Language

Department of Defense (DOD) civilians traveling under orders flying on official business having a DOD identification card are eligible for the exception language for checked bags which says a military customer may check 2 pieces of baggage not exceeding 62 linear inches or 70 lbs each.
Federal Government DG Fare Update

Continental will strictly enforce the correct Form of Payment or **FOP** for Federal Government Discount fares **DG**. Continental Airlines will only accept the authorized Visa / MasterCard accounts as FOP for DG fares.
Travel Agents should ensure that proper Government ID is presented and the appropriate U.S. Government issued Visa or MasterCard is used when booking government DG fares.
Improper issuance of these DG fares will result in a non-waivable debit memo for the difference of the DG fare and the applicable unrestricted air fare. Non-waivable debit memos can not be paid using the Federal Government-Authorized credit cards.

Continental Announces New Toll Free Phone Number

Effective immediately, US military personnel who are stationed in Germany can now call Continental Airlines toll free to make their R & R reservations. Hours of operations will be 9:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. The toll free number is 0800 000 4878. Be sure to ask for a Military Leave Fare.
Policy for Booking Military or Federal Groups

Per Continental's Booking & Ticketing Policy, 10 or more passengers traveling on at least one common flight within their itinerary to a common destination, must be booked through Continental's Government Group Desk. International continental.com Check-in

Effective March 31, 2005, Continental will offer customers the opportunity to check in for international flights on continental.com. Customers will be able to complete the international document information in advance and print a boarding document valid for entry to the security checkpoint.
