Fairlawn, Ohio. September 8, 2020. Technology company Continental has introduced a new eco-friendly EcoLite TPV garden hose that uses recycled materials in its construction making it 50 percent lighter than traditional water hoses.  “With this hose and all of our products today and tomorrow, Continental is fully committed to the Paris climate agreement, and as such, have set ourselves the target of becoming completely carbon-neutral in our operational processes and value chains by 2050,” said Andreas Gerstenberger, heading Continental’s business unit Industrial Fluid Solutions. “We see the achievement of this target as a key requirement for the corporation’s future viability.”

Continental’s EcoLite TPV hose uses recycled materials with its quest to use 95 percent renewable resources. “This fits perfectly with our focus on a ‘circular economy’,” added Gerstenberger. “This is a description of our intent to accelerate the reduced usage of plastics and operational waste management throughout our production facilities.”

The new EcoLite TPV garden hose was designed in Fairlawn, Ohio, and produced in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. “The hose is an extension of our focus on recyclables, and yet it gives the same premium performance, but it is considerably lighter,” said Randy Kish, marketing manager for Continental’s Industrial Fluid solutions unit.  “This is all a part of our goal to increase the waste recycling rate to 95 percent by 2030.”

The hose comes in a standard 50-foot length with 5/8-inch diameter and is available through the customary Continental distribution chain.
