The eXplore Tires Trainee Program Manufacturing IT provides you with a profound understanding of the interaction between shopfloor processes in production as well as local IT systems. Therefore the first phase of the program focusses on getting a deep insight into all manufacturing related processes and IT systems as well as their interfaces and the relevant data flow. The second phase is taking place in the central functions of tires and you will have the chance to gain valuable knowledge in Manufacturing Systems and System Architecture, to work on different strategic and global assignments, and to build a broad network with different departments and trainees. The program is finally rounded off by a job placement in the home plant in the areas of Manufacturing, IE, Engineering, QM or IT.

What can you expect?

The duration of the program is 18 months and splits into 3 phases. You will spend the first 10-12 months in your home plant to get a deep insight into all manufacturing related processes. Besides understanding the existing IT systems, their interfaces and relevant dataflows, you will work on sprecial plant projects and have the chance to work for a few weeks in TireBuilding to learn the special requirements of Manufacturing IT.

 After your home plant stay you will rotate to the central functions in Hannover, Germany for 6 months and work in a self-organized Manufacturing IT Trainee Pool along with the eXplore R&D, M&E, Supply Chain Management and Controlling Trainee Programs. During this phase you will get profound knowledge about the central systems architecture and work on strategic and global projects while building a network with the central colleagues and trainees.

After the program, you will return to your home plant and start your career with a first job placement in the areas of Manufacturing, IE, Engineering, QM or IT.

During all phases you will work on challenging projects and tasks as well as attend several trainings and events. 

This combination of projects, trainings and international experience provides you with excellent skills and prepares you optimally for your career at Continental.

What could your future look like?

The program offers you the chance to gain in-depth knowledge trough hands-on-training, your own projects and the possibility to gain a broad, international network which prepares you in the best way for a successful start into the Continental world. After the eXplore Tires Manufacturing IT Trainee Program there are many possible job positions in the plant, e. g. as MES Specialist, IT Developer for MES, C&D Engineer, Local Key User, Data Analyst, Systems Manager, waiting to be filled by you!

What do we expect?

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science  or comparable qualification (e.g. IT specialists  or graduates from technical high/secondary/vocational schools with 2-3 years working experience. Preferably, in technology development, in a producing company with high degree of automation or digitalization, especially in  the following fields: Production Processes, Databases, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Programming)
  • Broad overview of IT infrastructure, Database Systems, Windows Operating systems and Office 365
  • First experience in the realisation of IT projects desirable
  • Enthusiasm for “smart manufacturing”, digitalization and Internet of Things
  • Strong analytical capabilities, capacity for structured thinking and coping with high complexity
  • Strong interpersonal- and communication skills, committed team player in a multicultural environment,
  • Eager to improve and support production processes
  • Driven by passion, open minded personality, high operational readiness
  • Upper Intermediate (B2)  level of written and spoken English
  • Advanced (C1) level of the local language required
  • Willingness to travel internationally (6 months stay abroad)
