The Continental HR Graduate Program at a Glance

As part of the global Continental HR Graduate Program, you will join a multicultural team and gain a holistic insight into the professional world of Human Relations at Continental.

During the two-year program, you will take part in various training courses and complete four national and international assignments (six months each) within HR, such as Recruiting, Compensation & Benefits, Talent Management, Operational Employee Management, HR Communications, or a related department. You will be guided and supported by experienced colleagues, experts, and your own business mentor. Visits to customers, suppliers, and various Continental locations will give you an in-depth understanding of market and plant perspectives, which are important components of the entire business process.

You will also work on local and global HR projects in national and international teams, as well as in your Graduate Group. This gives you the opportunity to structure the program according to your ideas and wishes.

Team-building events and various development weeks complete the program and enable you to take the first step towards a successful career at Continental. Start your career with our Continental HR Graduate Program!

      What Can You Expect?

      Step 1: Welcome Week

The program begins with a welcome week in Hanover, Germany. You will get to know other HR graduates and key stakeholders in the company, attend a team-building event and training sessions, receive your one-year team project, and familiarize yourself with Continental, our HR strategy, and our values.

Step 2: First and Second Assignment

You will spend the first six months at your home location. By experiencing the day-to-day operations of your home HR department, you will be equipped with the necessary knowledge of HR and the key business processes of your internal HR customers. You will help create your individual development plan and stay in touch with other HR graduates through your project work. During your second assignment, you change perspective by working in a different department, which may also be located in a different business area, business unit, location, market, or country.

      Step 3: Meeting Week

Midway through the program, you will spend the meeting week with the other HR graduates in Hanover, Germany. This includes the final presentation of your one-year team project, various training sessions, and a special team event.

Step 4: Third and Fourth Assignment

On your third assignment, you will be working in a different department again. In the meantime, you will have built up a broad global network within Continental and benefit from the insights gained so far in your day-to-day work. The focus of your fourth and final assignment is on training on the job to gain the final practical experience for your upcoming role:

Depending on the individual focus and business needs of your home location, you may be assigned to a department there, a business function, or a center of excellence.

      Step 5: Closing Week

At the end of the program, you will be fully conversant with our organizational structures, HR processes, and products at Continental. In the closing week, we celebrate your achievements with a final training session, a feedback session, and an official graduation ceremony.

      Step 6: Placement

Now it’s up to you – show what you’ve learned and make the most of your career!

What Might Your Future Look Like?

As a participant in the Continental HR Graduate Program, you will be employed on a permanent, full-time basis. After the two-year program, you will continue your career in the position you were prepared for during the program, especially during your fourth rotation. Depending on your individual focus and strengths, as well as the business needs of your home location, your deployment may vary.

You can work in a department at your home location, in a business function, or in a center of excellence – for example as an HR Business Partner, Recruiting Specialist, in HR Communications, or in another position with a national or international focus. Your cross-functional, cross-divisional, and multicultural experience from the program will enable you to gradually take on more responsibility within our HR organization – and use your ideas to shape the future of HR at Continental.
