FAQs Application

What qualifications do I need to apply?

Our selection criteria will generally depend on the requirements of the position in question. But we also believe it is important to look at the whole person. This means that the applicant’s professional experience counts, but so does their character and personality. And it is crucial that the candidate can identify with our four corporate values of Trust, Passion to Win, Freedom to Act, and For One Another.

How can I submit my application?

Applications may only be submitted online on the Continental Job Portal, and only for specific advertised positions. Unfortunately, we cannot accept unsolicited applications or applications which are sent to us by e-mail or regular mail. Thank you for your understanding.

You can find step-by-step instructions for the application process on the Continental Job Portal. In most cases we’ll ask you to submit the following:

  • Cover letter

What information should I include in my cover letter?

Your cover letter is a chance to highlight your strengths and win us over with your positive attributes. A good cover letter should aim to explain why you are the best candidate for the advertised position. Give us a brief overview of who you are, where you gained the skills and expertise necessary for the job, and why you chose to apply for this particular position.

What information should I include in my curriculum vitae (CV)?

You should think of your CV as your own personalized, detailed business card. This document helps us to gain a first impression of your professional competencies and how well you qualify for the advertised position. In addition to your name and contact information where we can reach you, your CV should contain the following information (depending on your level of professional experience):

  • Your employment history, including vocational training positions and relevant professional experience
  • Continuing professional education and development
  • International experience
  • Other relevant experience and skills: additional qualifications, language skills, IT skills, etc.

How should I prepare for my in-person interview?

Keep in mind that you have already cleared the first hurdle! Your application has sparked our interest and now we would like to find out more about you. In the interview, which is often conducted jointly by HR and the department to which you are applying, we’ll talk in more detail about your professional history and competencies and whether you are a good match for the position. We will also tell you a lot more about the position itself. One of our objectives is to gain a better idea of who you are. As you prepare for the interview, reflect on the important milestones in your life as well as what sets you apart from other candidates. The spotlight is on you, so take advantage of this opportunity to leave a lasting, positive impression.

Warning of fake job offers

Please be wary of fraudulent e-mails from people falsely acting as Continental recruiters. Continental recruiters will have an e-mail address with a Continental domain.

Continental would never offer employment without a formal interview and in no case would we ask you to transfer money to get invited to an interview or receive a job, even if the job is in another country and a visa is needed.

If you receive such an e-mail, please do not open any links or attachments, save the e-mail as a file, and open a case in our compliance tool.
