Continental establishes a new plant in Debrecen, which will be the company group’s seventh manufacturing site in Hungary. The HUF 100 million investment will create 450 new jobs. By choosing Debrecen Continental increases the production of electronic components in the Transmission business unit in the European market, which is a part of Continental’s Powertrain division. The foundation stone of the greenfield investment was laid on 17 September 2018, production is expected to begin during the third quarter of 2020.
The Transmission unit develops and manufactures complex, industry standard electronic and actuator modules. With the help of the products traditional transmission can be automated and robotised, which propels Continental to a pioneer role in this segment of the market. The products of the business unit are critical to self-driving and fuel efficiency.
