Technology Dossiers Please find here backgrounder and dossiers on various technology highlights from Continental. Artificial intelligence Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a key...
In our stories, we tell how our functions and solutions will make mobility safer, more exciting and autonomous, how we combine highest product performance with sustainability and finally connect all the dots – from the road to the cloud and from virtual to real.
Dandelions and rice husks. What sounds like a salad recipe on a lunch menu in fashionable Berlin are components of Continental’s new Conti GreenConcept tire concept, which is sustainable, lightweight and efficient.
In addition to innovative drivetrain concepts, emission-free mobility above all needs new forms of connectivity that network vehicles with their surroundings and tailor-made components.
Continental is going on the offensive with respect to the central theme of the sustainability of humankind, and has set itself some ambitious goals in this respect. Four focus areas are at the heart of the action.
We discovered in 2022 that unforeseen events can change outlooks for the future within a short amount of time. The experiences we have faced over the past few months have shown us how many industries can be affected simultaneously and require a rethink within the economy. What is important here is how we deal with this and whether or not we are able to develop ourselves further. This is also the focus for Continental.
What was once a piece of wood with drilled holes into which gauges and instruments were screwed in the first gasoline-driven carriages of the 19th century, has now become a real high-tech object: the dashboard. The modern displays of today are becoming ever more digital, powerful and intuitive to use. Moreover, there is no end in sight to this breathtaking development – quite the contrary.
Automation will bring radical changes to some aspects of driving. Stop/start traffic and parking in tight parking spaces will no longer be daunting prospects. Advanced driver assistance systems already allow the owner to hand over vehicle guidance to the vehicle in certain situations.
On average, an electric vehicle weighs 1,622 kilograms, around 284 kilograms more than a conventional gasoline vehicle. According to the Center for Automotive Research, electric cars bring a fifth more weight onto the road than their gasoline counterparts. To further accelerate the transformation toward lower-emission or emission-free mobility, solutions need to be found that convince people and make the vehicle as a whole more sustainable – and above all more lightweight. Continental already offers a variety of advanced approaches in this regard.
