With an innovative, weight-reduced system solution for mounting electric motors, Continental is helping to further reduce energy consumption in electric vehicles and thereby increase their range.
At the heart of this are motor and chassis mounts that are specially designed for the requirements of electric motors. These are integrated in particularly lightweight structural components made from aluminum or fiber-reinforced high-performance polyamides. Each sub-component is designed and produced in an optimum form and material. The lower weight contributes to further reducing the energy consumption of the electric vehicle and thereby increasing the range. As a system provider, Continental supplies automotive manufacturers with a complete solution from a one-stop shop in this area, too.
Compared with diesel or gasoline engines, electric motors pose other challenges when it comes to mounting. With this vehicle type, for example, it is primarily excitation in the high-frequency range that occurs. The vibrations that can be felt by the driver are eliminated by innovative lightweight structural components in conjunction with integrated chassis and motor mounts. All components are perfectly tailored to one another and reduce disruptive noises and vibrations to a minimum. This offers the system real added value compared with a conventional mount.
