Infrastructure solutions are in demand worldwide

Another important topic is smart parking: sensors on the vehicle identify available parking spaces. E-charging stations and parking facilities suitable for the disabled could also be designated by such services.

When it comes to the urban traffic of the future, the world's focus is on the island city-state Singapore. This booming metropolis of 5.7 million inhabitants is increasingly becoming a major laboratory for urban mobility: multimodal mobility apps, self-driving shuttles and other solutions are brought onto the road in no time at all. While people here live in very confined space, they also want to keep moving around the clock.

The technology for autonomous vehicles, which Continental use in the self-driving shuttle CUbE, is ready for series production and is already in use worldwide, for example in  Singapore: It is currently being used in several pilot projects on manageable, public routes as well as in demarcated areas at company sites, university campuses or trade fair grounds.

      Data from a single source

Service solutions such as the intelligent intersection or smart parking could provide Continental with an integrated service in the future via the “City Data as a Service” (CDaaS) platform. This enables cities to increase the safety of all road users and offer mobility services for residents and tourists. In future, these data will even help to optimize the inner-city traffic flow and shorten driving times, which lowers emissions. And the city makes its mark as a mobility service provider, providing information about free parking spaces or car-sharing offers.
