Continental Automotive Edge Framework: Virtual Development Lab in the Cloud

      • Cloud workshop revolutionizes research and development processes

      • Cooperation with Amazon Web Services for innovative product developments

Together with Amazon Web Services, the world's leading provider of server services, Continental is developing a virtual development platform in the cloud. With the help of the "Continental Automotive Edge Framework", innovative products, in particular tailor-made software, sensor technology and big data solutions, can be implemented in a fraction of the previous development time and in a standardized technology setting. The "Automotive Edge Framework” basically is a virtual end-to-end development laboratory that allows the integration of new functions from the idea to the cloud to the vehicle.

The new development framework offers far-reaching opportunities for automotive manufacturers and their partner companies to meet the immense technological requirements of the future. The success of the automotive product will increasingly be determined by smart software solutions, not by hardware components. These can be developed and tested jointly by all participating partner companies in the standardized development infrastructure of the virtual cloud workshop. This allows development cycles to become noticeably shorter. In addition, the "Automotive Edge Framework" will enable regular and seamless updates of software functions in the vehicle in the future – as with smartphones.
