By intelligently combining a front camera and radar sensors, Continental is implementing a modular, cost-effective driver assistance system. At the TechShow, this production-ready technology will be presented in a demonstration vehicle on public roads. Driving functions such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistant as well as safety functions such as emergency brake assist and a lane departure warning system are integrated into the system.
The entire technology comes from a single source: In addition to the sensors, Continental also offers the software package to process the data and the functions which will convert the evaluated and processed data into a driving strategy. The system uses the camera's electronics as a central control unit, which means a significant cost advantage. This intelligent integration enables Level 2 driver assistance systems – and thus significantly more driving safety and driving comfort for a large number of vehicle models.
