Continental Trend Antennas

Continental Trend Antennas are research programs in which students and academics are collaborating with Continental shaping the future of mobility.

The close cooperation between industry and science creates a win-win-situation for both sides. The students can gain valuable experiences while discovering trends as well as developing project and product ideas. And Continental is always open for having a look at things from a different perspective.

Currently there are working six Trend Antennas worldwide with different foci. In total there are 110 students from around 12 different disciplines researching together with Continental.

Trend Antenna Regensburg (Germany)

​​​​​​​The Trend Antenna in Regensburg sets its focus on trend scouting and app development. This includes researching and evaluating the impact of the latest social and technological developments on traffic and transportation. Furthermore, elaborated ideas are applied in demonstrators and software, since the Trend Antenna Regensburg evolved into a central development hub for apps within Continental. The Trend Antenna in Regensburg, Germany, was the first institution of its kind, founded in 2010.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Trend Antenna Shanghai (China)

​​​​​​​The Trend Antenna Shanghai, China, was founded in 2012 and focuses on trends within the Chinese society. Besides researching trends, the students, teaching staff and Continental in Shanghai also develop prototypes of their ideas.​​​​​​​

Trend Antenna Mexico


The Trend Antenna Mexico was established in 2012 and teams are currently working in the locations Guadalajara and Queretaro. Although operating in different states both work together and support each other excellently, promoting cross-divisional projects.

With 25 students, changing every semester, it is the biggest one out of the six. Here, the team focuses primarily on applying user centered and user experience design techniques to validate product concepts and their technical feasibility, business viability and market desirability. These validations are made through product development research and a simple conceptual prototype.   The work in this Trend Antenna is designed project-oriented. They are driven by multi-disciplinary teams that include engineering, business and design students.​​​​​​​

Trend Antenna Singapore

The main focus of our Trend Antenna Singapore is to conceptualize and develop creative ideas to enhance the user experience for future vehicles. Therefore students enrolled for diplomas in Interaction Design, Digital Game Art & Design and Game Development & Technology and their lecturers from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) are working closely together with our experts in the field of gamification. Because playing games in the car is not just fun, it can also can keep the attention level high during fully automated driving.

Trend Antenna Frankfurt (Germany)

​​​​​​​The Trend Antenna in Frankfurt, Germany, founded in 2016, focuses on algorithms and software technologies regarding the digitalization of mobility. The team includes 6 students from different universities nearby. In the future, the aim is to enlarge the team up to around 30-40 students working together with teaching staff and Continental employees.​​​​​​​

Trend Antenna Friedrichshafen (Germany)

​​​​​​​The latest member of the Trend Antenna family is located in Friedrichshafen, Germany. It was founded in March 2016 and focuses on projects in the field of advanced driver assistance systems. The students will explore and evaluate new technologies and functions for sensors in the vehicle.​​​​​​​
