The Continental Tires Garage: Episode 1
Recycled and Renewable Materials, Full Performance
In the latest of The Continental Tires Garage, materials expert Dr. Erin Klokkers and host Daniel Holzberg take a closer look at the ingredients that go into modern tires. They explain how Continental is increasingly incorporating alternative materials in tire production , including silica from the ashes of rice husks and polyester from recycled PET bottles. Using a playful baking analogy, they demonstrate why every ingredient matters. Different cake mixtures reveal how rubber compounds can become too crumbly, too smooth or too prone to tearing. Just like when baking a cake, even the smallest tweak to a tire recipe can have a big impact on the final result.
