New Electric Renault Twingo Fitted Exclusively with Continental Tires as Standard

  • French vehicle manufacturer approves Continental’s 18-inch EcoContact 7 for the new all-electric Renault Twingo worldwide
  • Original equipment tire delivers high efficiency and low rolling noise
  • Key tire technologies include Smart Energy Casing, Aerodimple and Silent Pattern

Hanover, Germany, June 16, 2026. Renault’s new Twingo is now fitted with original equipment tires from Continental as standard worldwide. The latest generation of the all-electric compact car is rolling off the production line equipped exclusively with the 18-inch Continental EcoContact 7. The 18-inch tire has earned top ratings on the EU tire label for energy efficiency and rolling noise. It therefore meets key requirements that manufacturers place on tires for electric vehicles today: low rolling resistance to help maximize driving range and low rolling noise for a quieter, more pleasant driving experience.

The EcoContact 7’s high energy efficiency is due to a new rubber compound and Smart Energy Casing technology. This technology uses new materials in the tire’s carcass, liner and sidewall to reduce internal friction and lower rolling resistance. Additionally, the tire’s aerodynamically optimized sidewall design enhances efficiency. Continental has combined several technologies to achieve this, including the “Aerodimple” structure borrowed from golf balls. Dimples in the sidewall reduce air turbulence behind the tire, meaning the vehicle requires less energy to keep the tire moving.

Continental has also focused on quiet driving, with the newly developed Silent Pattern tread design reducing rolling noise. Developers optimized the spacing and angles of the tread blocks to align with the noise frequencies typically generated at low speeds when driving in urban areas. As a result, the tire contributes to a quieter ride – for vehicle occupants and local residents.

This tire line has been approved for the new Renault Twingo in the following size in numerous countries:

EcoContact 7, 205/45 R18 90H XL FR
