Spin-off Automotive Group Sector

June 24, 2025 Continental’s Automotive group sector, which is due to begin operating as the independent listed company AUMOVIO in September, today announced its objectives and strategy as part of its Capital Market Day. Specifically, AUMOVIO plans to boost its sales to over €24 billion in the long term (2024: €19.6 billion). To do this, the company will build on its global positioning in development and production, established customer relationships worldwide as well as its clear focus on high-growth and value-accretive technologies for the software-defined vehicle and safe, exciting, connected and autonomous mobility solutions.

February 20, 2025 Continental’s Automotive group sector, which is planned to become the independent listed company Aumovio in September, has further expanded its Investor Relations department with the appointment of Lutz Ackermann as head of Investor Relations. Ackermann transitions from Fuchs SE, bringing over a decade of leadership experience in investor relations.

April 23, 2025 Continental group sector Automotive presented its future name at Auto Shanghai. The independent automotive company will be named Aumovio. The name of the new company combines the strong market position, heritage and technological expertise in the automotive industry with the ambition to shape the mobility of the future with innovations.

March 19, 2025 Following the Supervisory Board’s approval of the spin-off last week, Continental’s Automotive group sector has decided to establish the headquarters of the planned independent company in Frankfurt am Main. The aim is to locate the headquarters of the new automotive company at the current site in the Guerickestraße by mid-2025. In total about 4.230 employees work in the Continental-location in Frankfurt in production, research and development and administration (by December 31, 2024).

March 12, 2025 At its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of Continental approved the planned spin-off of Automotive and is recommending that the 2025 Annual Shareholders’ Meeting also approve this step. Subject to this approval, the future independent company is to have cash funds of €1.5 billion by the time of the spin-off, according to the Supervisory Board’s resolution, with a clear business-related allocation of opportunities and risks to the two future companies. The financing of Automotive’s operating business is also to be strengthened by a revolving credit facility of €2.5 billion.

February 06, 2025 Nino Romano, previously head of Automotive Quality and Operations, has taken over as chief technology officer (CTO) of the future independent Automotive group sector effective February 1, 2025

January 16, 2025 Continental’s Automotive group sector has appointed Karin Dohm (52) as the future CFO to continue driving forward its already started path to independence. The current chief financial officer of the Hornbach Group will strengthen the Automotive team from April 1, 2025.

December 18, 2024 The Continental Executive Board informed the Supervisory Board at a meeting today of its decision and concrete plan to spin off the Automotive group sector. Subject to the approval of the Supervisory Board in March 2025 and resolution by the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting of Continental AG on April 25, 2025, the current plan is to complete the spin-off of Automotive as a European company (Societas Europaea, SE) listed on the Frankfurt stock exchange by the end of 2025. The independent company will operate under a new brand, which is to be launched by the end of April 2025. 

December 09, 2024 The Continental Executive Board has decided to spin off the Automotive group sector following its detailed evaluation announced in early August. Subject to the approval of the Supervisory Board in March 2025, the spin-off will be presented for resolution to the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting of Continental AG on April 25, 2025. The spin-off is expected to take place by the end of 2025. The preparations for it are to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2025.

August 05, 2024 Due to the increasingly dynamic markets in the automotive industry, the Continental Executive Board has decided, following a strategic review, to conduct a further detailed evaluation on spinning off the Automotive group sector. The aim of having two independent companies is to fully harness Continental’s value and growth potential.
