      The eXplore Tires Manufacturing IT Graduate Program at a glance

      Are you passionate about smart manufacturing, digitalization, industry 4.0, Internet of Things and engineering?

      This 18-month Graduate Program provides you with a profound understanding of the interaction between shopfloor processes in production as well as local IT systems. 

      You will have the chance to gain valuable knowledge of manufacturing systems and system architecture and work on a wide range of strategic, global assignments so as to ultimately gain a job placement at your home plant in the areas of Manufacturing, IE, Engineering, QM or IT. Afterwards you will be qualified for a position in IT at Continental.

      What you can expect

      The duration of the program is up to 18 months and it is split into two phases.

      Phase 1 – IT Overview 

      You will spend the first 10-12 months at one of our tire manufacturing plants at your home location to get a deep insight into all manufacturing-related processes. In addition to understanding the existing IT systems, their interfaces and relevant dataflows. You will also work on special plant projects and have the chance to work in TireBuilding for a few weeks to learn the specific requirements of Manufacturing IT. 

      Phase 2 – Central Stay

      After the first phase you will enter the Graduate Pool in Hanover where you will get to know and work together with the central functions. For six months you will work in a self-organized Manufacturing IT Graduate Pool along with the members of the eXplore R&D, M&E, Supply Chain Management and Controlling Graduate Programs. During this phase, you will gain profound knowledge of the central systems architecture and work on strategic and global projects while building a network with central colleagues and graduates. 

      After the graduate pool phase you will return to your plant tasks and start your career with an initial job placement in the areas of Manufacturing, IE, Engineering, QM or IT. 

      During all phases you will work on challenging projects and tasks as well as attending several training courses and events. This combination of projects, training and international experience will provide you with excellent skills and ensure you are ideally prepared for your career at Continental. 

      What your future could look like

      The program offers you the chance to gain in-depth knowledge through hands-on-training, pursue your own projects and have the chance to establish a broad, international network – ideal preparation for a successful introduction to the world of IT at Continental. After the eXplore Tires Manufacturing IT Graduate Program, there are numerous potential job positions at the plant, e. g. as an MES Specialist, IT Developer for MES, C&D Engineer, Local Key User, Data Analyst, Systems Manager – all potentially waiting to be filled by you! 

      What we expect

      • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a comparable qualification (e.g. IT specialists or graduates from technical high/secondary/vocational schools with 2-3 years working experience.  

      • Broad overview of IT infrastructure, database systems, Windows operating systems and Office 365 

      • Initial experience of IT projects desirable 

      • Keen interest in smart manufacturing, digitalization and Internet of Things 

      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

      • A committed team player in a multicultural environment 

      • Eager to improve and support production processes 

      • Driven by passion, open-minded personality, high operational readiness 

      • Upper Intermediate (B2) level of written and spoken English 

      • Advanced (C1) level of proficiency in the local language required 

      • Passion to shape the future of mobility
