      A change in scenery and a chance to live in another country for a while without switching employers: International assignments offer our employees opportunities to gain intensive intercultural experience and learn new professional skills. And both the employee and Continental benefit from the experience. Employees who decide to work abroad for a fixed period of time return home with a broader understanding of their field, of the company as a whole, and of the overall business environment. Experience in different countries facilitates intercultural understanding, offering a decisive advantage as our work at Continental increasingly extends across the boundaries of not only departments, but of countries as well. In short, international assignments are a classic win-win situation – for employee and company alike.

      We offer our employees and their families many different kinds of support to prepare them for international assignments, including exploratory visits, intercultural training courses, foreign language classes for families, and job coaching for partners. And our international assignments can last anything from six months to five years. The popularity of such programs can be seen from the continuous increase in the number of international assignments at Continental in recent years. At present, we have more than 900 employees “on assignment” around the world.
