Continental AG's Data Protection Declaration

Continental AG is making the MyEvent@Continental smartphone application available. This App allows events to be more digital and interactive. Its main functions are providing information and offering interactive options for participants such as an agenda, floor plans, participant lists, push messages with current information, Q&A, feedback (rate using asterisks), word clouds, live polls, newsfeeds, instant messaging, information and documents about workshops and speakers as well as collaborative games such as quizzes, treasure hunts, or collecting interactive points (“gamification”).
Continental AG processes your data in the context of your use of MyEvent@Continental in compliance with applicable legal regulations.
Scope
Personal data entered by you is collected, processed, and used by Continental AG for the purpose of using the App. Insofar as this is necessary for the execution of the contract, the data may be passed on to the companies affiliated with Continental AG pursuant to sections 15 et seqq. of the German Stock Corporation Act as stipulated in Continental's Binding Corporate Rules - pdf (263KB).
If permitted and/or prescribed by law, the data may be evaluated for reporting purposes (e.g., statistics). Your data will be collected, processed and used solely in compliance with applicable data protection regulations (e.g., your consent). In order to ensure the provision of services and tools (e.g., technical support), we transmit data to our service provider, SpotMe Holding SA; Boulevard de Grancy 19A; 1006 Lausanne; Switzerland. SpotMe Holding collects and processes your personal data on our behalf insofar as this is necessary to execute the contract (on the basis of a Data Processing Agreement or, as SpotMe Holding is based outside the EU, on the basis of the EU standard contractual clauses). In accordance with the statutory provisions, all of your data is treated as strictly confidential.
Functioning of MyEvent@Continental

The use of MyEvent@Continental requires installation and the user’s consent to the Terms of Use and the Data Protection Declaration. - Registration on MyEvent@Continental
The use of MyEvent@Continental requires registration with first and last name and e-mail address. For the purpose of honest and fair interaction, users are requested to provide their correct information and real names. Users must also give prior consent to the Terms of Use and the Data Protection Declaration. - Communication between App users
The App allows personal data to be transferred between users. First and last names are visible to all users. This also applies to the messaging service, which uses first and last names to exchange messages between users. Additional personal data (e-mail address, phone number, position, company, address, or other information you provide) can be shared via the business cards exchange only, which requires active scanning of the QR Code on users’ smartphones.
Collection, Processing and Use of Data
Continental AG stores personal data relating to users of MyEvent@Continental only if consent for this has been provided. The only data that is stored relates to the pages visited, the page functions used, the time of the visit, and the number of interactions per visit. Continental AG uses this information to measure website activity, to produce statistics, and to improve services and information provided via the App.
Personal user data is used solely to process inquiries within the context of the consent granted or in compliance with applicable data protection regulations. Based on legal requirements, Continental has enforced global, uniform, and internal Data Protection Rules (Binding Corporate Rules - pdf (263KB)) regulating the protection of your personal data.
The following personal data will be collected when the App is used:
- first and last name
- E-mail address
Continental AG stores data entered /provided for the service such as name, company, e-mail, address and telephone solely for the purpose of communicating personally with you. The data is stored and used solely for the App services. Your data is erased one year after the event has ended, provided that this erasure does not conflict with any statutory duties to retain records.
Data Subject’s Rights
As a data subject, you have the following rights in connection with the processing of your personal data pursuant to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR):

In accordance with Article 7 (3) EU GDPR, you have the right to withdraw your consent to the collection, processing/storage and use of your personal data at any time. Consent must be withdrawn by writing to Continental AG Postfach/Postbox 1 69 D-30001 Hannover or by sending an e‑mail myevent@conti.de.
You can always contact our data protection officers in writing (including by e-mail) with questions or complaints at dataprotection@conti.de. You can also contact the appropriate data protection authorities, if available.
Protection of Stored Data
Our company and SpotMe Holding use technical and organizational security measures to protect the personal data provided by you from manipulation, loss, destruction, or from access by unauthorized persons. The security measures are continually improved and adapted in accordance with the latest technology.
Data provided that is unencrypted could potentially be viewed by third parties. For this reason, we would like to point out that, with regard to data transmission over the Internet (e.g., by e-mail), secure transfer cannot be guaranteed. Sensitive data should therefore either not be transmitted at all or only via a secure connection (SSL). If you access pages and files and are then asked to enter personal data, please note that the transmission of such data via the Internet may not be secure and that there is a risk that it may be viewed and manipulated by unauthorized persons.
Closing Provisions
Continental reserves the right to change or amend this Data Protection Declaration in the interests of MyEvent@Continental at any time with effect for the future, provided that such changes are not unreasonable for the user. This shall be the case in particular if the changes do not involve any substantial detriment to the user, e.g. with changes in contact information, the commencement of additional services, or any similar matters.
In each case of intended change to this Data Protection Declaration, Continental shall give reasonable notice to the user of at least 30 days prior to any change coming into force. Such notification shall take place via e-mail to the e-mail address provided by the user upon registration or via pop-up window in case registration was not required.
Users must consent to the changed Data Protection Declaration and continuing the use of MyEvent@Continental by checking the respective opt-in box of the pop-up window or by logging in again.
