First Place for Continental in ADAC Summer Tire Test

      • PremiumContact 7 demonstrates top performance on wet and dry roads
      • Top score for driving safety and very good mileage

Hanover, Germany, February 20, 2024. Continental’s PremiumContact 7 took first place in the joint annual summer tire test conducted by the automobile clubs ADAC (Germany), ÖAMTC (Austria) and TCS (Switzerland). The premium tire launched by Continental last year took the top spot on wet and dry surfaces, outperforming 15 competitors in the 215/55 R 17 size.

“In this year’s test the Continental PremiumContact 7 defines the benchmark on both dry and wet roads and thus secures the top rating,” the experts wrote. In the wear test the tire showed very good mileage and low abrasion. In the overall environmental rating it is in the top third of the tires tested (www.adac.de, Feb. 20, 2024). The environmental performance accounts for 30 percent of the total score given by the motor clubs.

As for braking distances on dry roads, the PremiumContact 7 set the best mark with just 35 meters from 100 km/h. On wet roads the test car stopped after 28 meters from 80 km/h - the runners-up needed just under two meters and three meters more braking distance. In the dry handling test the PremiumContact 7 gave good feedback to the steering wheel and performed reliably at the limits. According to the ADAC it was also “absolutely safe and easy to control on the wet handling course”.

All in all, the ADAC and its sister organizations from Austria and Switzerland tested 16 tire models of international brands. The 215/55 R 17 tire dimension is suitable for medium-sized SUVs and passenger vehicles.
