Fitted with Continental Tires: New Renault Clio
- French vehicle manufacturer approves Continental’s EcoContact 7 for new Renault Clio in 16- and 18-inch sizes worldwide
- Original equipment tire delivers high efficiency and low rolling noise
Hanover, Germany, December 4, 2025. New Renault Clio will be equipped worldwide with Continental tires as standard. The latest generation of the compact car will roll off the production line fitted with Continental’s EcoContact 7 tire in 16- and 18-inch sizes. In both sizes, the tire has earned top ratings on the EU tire label for fuel efficiency and rolling noise.
The EcoContact 7’s high energy efficiency is due to a new rubber compound and Smart Energy Casing technology. This technology uses new materials in the tire’s carcass, liner and sidewall to reduce internal friction and lower rolling resistance. Additionally, the tire’s aerodynamically optimized sidewall design enhances efficiency. Continental has combined several technologies to achieve this, including the “aerodimple” structure borrowed from golf balls. Dimples in the sidewall reduce air turbulence behind the tire, meaning the vehicle requires less energy to keep the tire moving.
Continental has also focused on quiet driving, with the newly developed Silent Pattern tread design reducing rolling noise. Developers optimized the spacing and angles of the tread blocks to align with the noise frequencies typically generated at low speeds when driving in urban areas. As a result, the tire contributes to a quieter ride – for vehicle occupants as well as pedestrians and residents.
This tire line has been approved for the new Renault Clio in the following sizes in numerous countries:
EcoContact 7, 195/60 R16 93H XL FR
EcoContact 7, 205/45 R18 90H XL FR
